Offset lithography is a printing process where an image is transferred ("offset") from a printing plate to a rubber blanket, then from the blanket onto paper. It works on the principle that oil and water don't mix: the plate is treated so image areas attract ink while non-image areas attract water and repel it. This method produces consistent, high-quality color reproduction and is widely used for posters, books, and fine art prints because of its sharp detail and even ink coverage.
With archival paper, quality inks, and proper framing/storage away from direct light, offset litho prints can last well over a century.
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the birth of Bigfoot, the Original Monster Truck, Historiart developed an exhibition that explored the history of one of the world’s most famous vehicles. We created 15 artworks from a group of international artists and exhibited in Pacific, MO, Bigfoot’s hometown, throughout 2026.
